Nose is elegant, savory red and black fruits, fresh coffee grounds, fennel, new leather, nutmeg. Palate is powerful, silky entry, integrated dark fruit and damp earth, black tea, allspice, long, seamless finish.

The flagship 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA checks in as 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and the rest Malbec that spent 20 months in 70% new French oak. A gorgeously pure nose of cassis, blueberries, violets, tobacco, and sandalwood give way to a perfectly balanced, full-bodied, layered 2019 that has great tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great, great finish. This classic Napa Valley Cabernet does everything right and never puts a foot wrong, showing fabulous complexity, perfect balance, solid structure, and the class to evolve for 30 years or more. 900 cases.

A bold, beautiful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, this is a serious, structured and complex wine. Mostly barrel-fermented and given 20 months in mostly new oak, it is rich, velvety and earth, with hints of dried herb, sage, cedar and tobacco that build around a core of black cherry and plum. Grippy, it will do well in the cellar; enjoy best 2029-2039.

Rich and lush, with enticing boysenberry, blackberry and plum puree flavors that cruise through, inlaid with licorice snap, violet and sweet toast notes. Not shy in style but has focus and cut. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032.

Full-throttle to the core, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA packs a huge punch. Massive extraction and copious new oak suffocate the fruit, while huge, bitter tannins attenuate the finish. The 2019 is a good wine, but it is not at all complex or nuanced. Why make a wine like this?
