Ruby red with a garnet hue. Fully developed on the nose with ripe fruit and sweet spices; reminiscent of chocolate / strawberry praline and candied cherry. Well-rounded and soft tannins on the palate fill the mouth, very well balanced and extremely long, some ripe red fruits on the finish. Very enjoyable now with plenty of future potential. Pair with roasted meat and aged cheese.

The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Agostino Petri is laced with dark cherry, grilled herbs, tobacco, licorice and earthy tones. A dollop of Cabernet Sangiovese lends a good bit of savoriness to the flavor profile. I would give the 2017 a year or two in bottle to see if some of the rough contours that are present today soften a bit.
