Villa Matilde Falanghina 2018
|Region||Italy, Campania, Falanghina|
Wine SpectatorPlump and juicy nectarine fruit is accented by grated ginger and almond biscotti notes in this fresh and zesty, light- to medium-bodied white. Floral and stone details drive the finish. Drink now through 2022. 40,000 cases made, 4,000 cases imported.
VinousBright golden-tinged straw-yellow. Aromas of canned pineapple, vanilla, sweet spices and lime. The juicy apricot, peach and resin flavors linger nicely and show a little more restraint than in past vintages of this wine or in the 2018 Falerno del Massico Bianco from this producer. I appreciate the wine's reticence, though it remains fat and luscious. I have no doubt that many will find this style appealing.
Wine EnthusiastSpring blossom, exotic fruit and banana aromas lead the nose. It's light-bodied and refreshing, with flavors of pineapple and peach accompanied by crisp acidity.
