Chateau Magnol Haut Medoc 2012
Wine EnthusiastThis is a smoky, obviously wood-aged wine. The burnt toast character is still dominant, waiting for the attractive black currant fruits to catch up. It will develop into a bright, fruity wine, so wait until 2017.
Wine SpectatorSoft and direct, with plum skin and cherry preserve notes, backed by a red licorice accent on the open-knit finish. Drink now. 16,000 cases made.
Wine AdvocateA well-known cru bourgeois from the famous firm of Barton and Guestier, this is a soft, round, juicy, easygoing style of wine. Dark plum/garnet, it offers soft, silky tannins, medium body and an earthy, cherry and blackcurrant-flavored mid-palate. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. It is not terribly complex but adequate.
