Travaglini Gattinara Riserva 2012
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Gattinara|
Dark spice, crushed rose, Alpine herb and mature berry aromas appear in the glass. The structured, elegant palate delivers dried Marasca cherry, cranberry, licorice and tobacco set against firm noble tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance.
This austere red is more about a tight weave of tannins, which dominate any fruit for the time being. There is a core of cherry and berry locked up, but it's hard to say where it's going. Best from 2019 through 2028. 5,800 cases made, 900 cases imported.
